What's so awesome about our drama holiday program?

We offer an inclusive space which encourages growth in emotional well-being and social skills through the arts, with a primary focus on drama. Our themed, 3-day school holiday programs include drama, dance and visual art, culminating in an open session for family and friends on the final day. Join us for three days of fun, friendship and creative expression!

The holiday program is lead by Silvina, a Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist (see bio here) and 2 co-facilitators who have experience teaching drama to individuals with additional support needs. With a 6-student maximum per class and three facilitators, each student is given individualised attention regarding their specific strengths and support needs.

Our holiday program aims to support the development of:

Interested in Registering?

1. Choose the holiday program you are interested in and complete the expression of interest form.

2. We will email you within 3 business days to make a time for a Zoom or phone intake meeting, whichever you prefer (if you are registering a return student, steps 2-4 may not be necessary).

3. Intake meeting: during this conversation we will enquire about your child's strengths, challenges, needs and goals and answer any questions you may have about our program. (This also allows us an opportunity to create groups with similar or compatible goals.)

4. Optional: If we feel that the child will benefit from seeing the space and meeting the lead facilitator before their first class, we will arrange a time for this to happen. This is a helpful option if the child is particularly anxious about trying new things or meeting new people.

5. Your child participates in their inclusive drama program!

How do I know if my child will be a good fit for the program?

This can sometimes be a tricky question to answer. We want our students to feel successful in the group - it needs to be the right level of challenge for them and be targeting the right goals.

As a guide, if you can answer YES* to the following three questions, this program will likely be a good fit for the participant:

1. My child can follow directions in a group of 6 children most of the time.

2. My child is not usually aggressive towards other children or adults

3. My child is interested in being in a group environment and playing with others

If the answer to any of these question is "No", your child may have other goals that need to be focussed on first, that are outside the scope of our drama program. Generally, if a student is emotionally ready to be in a group setting and is able to keep themselves and others safe in a shared environment, they will most likely have a great time!

If a student struggles significantly with language comprehension, sensory processing or self-regulation however, we recommend they attend private speech therapy, occupational therapy or play therapy first, until such time that they are ready to join the group.

The answer to whether your child will be a good fit for the class lies in what will most benefit them. This is something we can figure out together if you're not sure, so please feel free to get in touch with us to discuss further.

* If your child needs 1:1 support for the answer to be "Yes", then you can count your answer as a "Yes". They are welcome to attend with a support person they know or we can offer 1:1 support at an additional cost.
